Prof. Ingrid Różyło-Kalinowska, MD, PhD, DSc. graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Lublin, Poland, in 1997. In 1999 she was awarded PhD degree with merits in the Medical University of Lublin, in 2004 the DSc degree by the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland and in 2010 the Full Professor title by the President of Poland.In 2012 she became Head of the Independent Unit of Propaedeutics of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology of the Medical University of Lublin and in 2018 of the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology of this University. She is specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging.Scientific work of Ingrid Różyło-Kalinowska includes over 200 full papers and over 300 conference contributions.She is supervisor of 11 completed PhD theses, 4 on-going PhD processes as well as of 11 MSc dissertations.She completed 5 training periods abroad(France, Spain, UK).Her didactic work includes dental radiography and radiology, maxillofacial radiology, medical radiology and diagnostic imaging for dentists, medical radiologists as well as Polish and English Division dental students.She is the President of the EuropeanAcademyof DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology, the Regional Director of International Association of Dentomaxillofacial in Europe, the vice-President of the Polish Dental Society, the Chairman of the Section of DentoMaxillofacial Radiology of the Polish Medical Radiological Society.She is an active member of the European Society of Head and Neck Radiology as well as the European Society of Radiology and Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Polish Section.She is the Editor-in-Chief of the “Journal of Stomatology”, belongs to editorial boards of several scientific journalsand serves as a reviewer of manuscripts submitted to international scientific journal.She is co-editor and co-author the book “Temporomandibular Joint Imaging” (Springer, 2018), co-author of5dentomaxillofacial radiology textbooks in Polish, chapters on dentomaxillofacial radiology in 4 Polish textbooks,as well as parts of the“English-Polish and Polish-English Dental Dictionary” (1999) and “Practical Dental Dictionary” (2016).
Dr. Lucia Cevidanes is the Thomas and Doris Graber Professor of Dentistry and Associate Professor at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Michigan, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is a practicing clinician who has published over 120 manuscripts on 3D imaging for which she has received research grants from the American Association of Orthodontics Foundation and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Her work has been recognized by the American Association of Orthodontists Thomas M. Graber Award, the B F Dewel Award, Milo Hellman Award, and the Wuehrmann award from the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Her interests include 3D imaging to solve difficult clinical problems in orthodontics, studying current and new treatment approaches and technical procedures, and understanding treatment outcomes for craniofacial anomalies and dentofacial deformities.
Kaan Orhan, DDS MSc MHM PhD, BBAc is a Professor of DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology at the Ankara University, Faculty of Dentistry, where he serves as a faculty in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology Department, Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey, and also Visiting Professor at the OMFS-IMPATH Research Group, Department of Imaging and Pathology, University of Leuven, Belgium. Dr. Orhan received his dental degree in 1998 and completed his PhD and Maxillofacial radiology residency studies in 2002 at the Osaka University Faculty of Dentistry in Osaka, Japan and Ankara University, Faculty of Dentistry. In 2004, he started his academic career in Ankara University as a consultant at the Faculty of Dentistry. Between 2004-2006, he worked as Maxillofacial consultant and lecturer in the same University. He became an associate professor in 2006 and a full-time professor in 2012. 2007-2010, he was the founder and the chairman of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology Department, Near East University, Cyprus and also still continuing as a faculty in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology Department, Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey. He has over 200 SCI international publications on peer-reviewed journals, and received over 2000 citations from his studies with an h index 25. He particularly made significant contributions in the Maxillofacial Radiology. He has been invited to give many lectures in national and international scientific meetings. He served as the chairman of Research and Scientific Committee, European Academy of DentoMaxillofacial Radiology between 2008-2012 and he was elected for the Vice president position (2012-2014) and then as the President for the same academy. He is also serving in the Research and Scientific com in IADMFR. He is a fellow of Japanese Board of DentoMaxillofacial Radiology, European Head and Neck Radiology Society (ESHNR), European society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESRMB), Turkish Magnetic Resonance Society. He is also serving a Board member of specialization committee in Ministry of Health and served as the recognition of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology specialty in Turkey. He is editor of “Radiology:Open Access”and “Oral Radiology”, “BMC Medical Imaging” and also in the editorial board of many journals including “ Clincal Oral Investigations”, “Oral Surgery Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiol”, “Radiology:Open Access”and “Oral Radiology”, Journal of Radiation and Radiation Thereapy and also serving as reviewer more than 50 different journals on his field including Oral Surgery Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiol”, Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, World Journal Surgical Oncology, Quintessence International, Journal of Forensic Dental Sciences, Clinical Anatomy. Besides, He is co-author and contributor of eight books both in English and Turkish.
Prof. Franciszek Burdan received PhD (1999) and habilitation degree (2004) from Medical University of Lublin (Poland) and professor degree from President of Poland in 2008. He is a radiologist and European Registered Toxicologist. Presently works as a professor of medicine at the Human Anatomy Department of Medical University of Lublin, and a chief of the Radiology Department of St. John’s Cancer Center. Author or co-author of over 200 original and review peer-reviewed publications, case reports and scientific letters, as well as few chapters of anatomical, radiological, toxicological and oncological books. Most of his output focuses on morphology as well as developmental and organ toxicity, abnormalities of the head and neck, urogenital, digestive and central nervous system. He incorporated various radiological techniques into experimental teratology. He has been started a long-term scientific projects on epidemiology and medical imagining of neoplasms. Member of Editorial Board of various medical journals (e.g., British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, Folia Morphologica, Global Journal of Anthropology Research, International Journal of Orthopaedics, International Journal of Medical Imaging, Journal of Advances in Medical and Pharmaceutical Science, Toxicology Reports). He was a mentor in fourteen completed PhD dissertations, reviewer of over 600 manuscripts for various international journals. His scientific achievement was honoured by Polish Minster of Health, International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics, Teratology Society, European Teratology Society, International Federation of Anatomical Societies, Polish Scientific Foundation, OIC Poland Foundation and Polish Toxicological Society.
Bruxism, occlusion, functional disorders of the masticatory system - understand the connection
Introduction to the problems of bruxism, occlusion disorders and functional disorders of the temporomandibular disorders (TMD). The evolution of views on the relationship between bruxism, occlusion disorders and functional disorders of the masticatory motor system will be presented. The principles of diagnostics as well as contemporary methods of therapeutic treatment of bruxism and functional disorders of the masticatory apparatus will also be discussed, with particular emphasis on splintotherapy and cooperation with a physiotherapist.
Dr n.med. Andrzej Bożyk
In 1998 he graduated from the medical and dental faculty of the 1st Faculty of Medicine with the English-speaking branch of the Medical University of Lublin with a very good result. Studies in Management of Health Care Centers at the Warsaw School of Economics and passed the state examination for supervisory boards of state-owned companies. In the years 2000-2018, he was an adjunct in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Medical University of Lublin. In 2004 he obtained the title of doctor of medical sciences. In 2008 he passed the specialization exam in the field of dental prosthetics. In 2015, he began his specialization in the field of orthodontics. A long-time guardian of the student scientific circle at the Department of Prosthodontics at the Medical University of Lublin. Drn.med. he is a co-author of 55 scientific papers and 68 reports of congresses. Member of the PTS, PTO and the PTDNŻ.
