This course is designed to present information regarding the diagnosis and management of Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Disorders. The course will consist of a series of lectures and case presentations. The information provided in this course will allow the participants to understand the dentist's role in managing complex orofacial pain problems. The area of temporomandibular disorders will be emphasized since the professions plays a major role in managing these pain disorders. Besides, Being familiar with anatomy and pathology of maxillofacial region especially in conjunction of different pathologies and systemic conditions would help professions to discover occult diseases and maxillofacial pathology cases esp. that has refereed pain earlier such as TMJ. Treatment planning for maxillofacial pathologies involves gathering as much information as possible. Hence along with the focus of the course, the imaging of TMJ with various modalities will also be discussed with a special emphasis on Ultrasonography and (USG) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The course includes simultaneous translation from English to Polish.

Prof. Franciszek Burdan
Medical University of Lublin, Poland
Prof. Franciszek Burdan received PhD (1999) and habilitation degree (2004) from Medical University of Lublin (Poland) and professor degree from President of Poland in 2008. He is a radiologist and European Registered Toxicologist. Presently works as a professor of medicine at the Human Anatomy Department of Medical University of Lublin, and a chief of the Radiology Department of St. John’s Cancer Center. Author or co-author of over 200 original and review peer-reviewed publications, case reports and scientific letters, as well as few chapters of anatomical, radiological, toxicological and oncological books. Most of his output focuses on morphology as well as developmental and organ toxicity, abnormalities of the head and neck, urogenital, digestive and central nervous system. He incorporated various radiological techniques into experimental teratology. He has been started a long-term scientific projects on epidemiology and medical imagining of neoplasms. Member of Editorial Board of various medical journals (e.g., British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, Folia Morphologica, Global Journal of Anthropology Research, International Journal of Orthopaedics, International Journal of Medical Imaging, Journal of Advances in Medical and Pharmaceutical Science, Toxicology Reports). He was a mentor in fourteen completed PhD dissertations, reviewer of over 600 manuscripts for various international journals. His scientific achievement was honoured by Polish Minster of Health, International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics, Teratology Society, European Teratology Society, International Federation of Anatomical Societies, Polish Scientific Foundation, OIC Poland Foundation and Polish Toxicological Society.
